Johnson Chiropractic Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well

Your Richmond chiropractor understands your spine! Johnson Chiropractic understands anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor learned much about anatomy of the spine and utilizes that knowledge daily. Knowing the anatomy of the spine is continually at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient walks through the door! It’s so exciting! (Aren’t you glad someone finds it exciting?)

LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL

Going through school, we were all guilty of learning just to pass an exam. When in professional school, such learning is more important than ever since it will impact everyday work. (How much do you remember from your school days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists described that chiropractors felt that a higher level of anatomy instruction during chiropractic school was beneficial for clinical practice, permitting better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical material to justify a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian report of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners rated their knowledge of anatomy and proved it in a test showing their knowledge. This was contrasted to the same in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors showed that they retained their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the thought that chiropractic practitioners may not retain it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is utilized daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand their anatomy. (2) Your Richmond chiropractor does! We’ll be happy to talk about it!

SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE

Performing spinal manipulation every day uses knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most common reasons people said they sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The typical treatment they experienced were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions receive plenty of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But positive side effects of chiropractic care emerge in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers described the immediate effects of manual therapy to the upper thoracic spine on cardiovascular autonomic control of patients with musculoskeletal pain (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal pain increased the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come experience these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge of the spine’s anatomy.
