Best to See Your Richmond Chiropractor As Long As You Need

“Do I have to see my chiropractor forever?” is a common question Johnson Chiropractic hears when Richmond folks talk about chiropractic. Richmond chiropractic patients are a diverse group. Some Richmond chiropractic patients come for a specific spinal pain relief issue and stop coming. Some Richmond chiropractic patients come and go as their back pain or neck pain issue requires (though following closely the at-home care program that incorporates lifestyle issues, diet, nutrition, and exercise keeps these issues at bay for many!). Some Richmond chiropractic patients discover that making a Richmond chiropractic spinal manipulation visit on a normal schedule after pain relief is attained benefits them: feeling better and keeping that better feeling when reminded to keep doing healthy things like exercising, eating right and being adjusted. Johnson Chiropractic is grateful for every Richmond chiropractic patient who entrusts their spine’s healing and on-going health to this Richmond chiropractic practice.

OPTIMAL NUMBER OF CHIROPRACTIC VISITS FOR CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN

Now, just how often a Richmond chiropractic patient can gain from Richmond chiropractic care visits is a research-documented answer for chronic low back pain patients. Johnson Chiropractic presents a new study in which participants with chronic low back pain received treatment three times a week for 6 weeks. Some visits were with spinal manipulation; some were with light massage; some not treatment at all. Finally, 12 chiropractic spinal manipulation treatments created the most favorable results for chronic low back pain patients. A year after care, the 18 visits patients showed peak outcomes for disability and pain relief. (1) Johnson Chiropractic uses the Cox Technic System of Spinal Pain Management which has researched and documented for other specific spinal issues the number of visits and days to maximum improvement. Such evidence allows Johnson Chiropractic to really aid our Richmond back pain patients’ knowledge of what to expect with Richmond chiropractic care.

NUMBER OF CHIROPRACTIC VISITS BY CONDITION

The number of visits for low back pain episodes changes often with the underlying cause of the back pain episode. A study from 30 chiropractic clinics’ chiropractic care with flexion distraction (aka Cox Technic) gathered data on 1000 back pain patients. It detailed the types of conditions treated, the days, visits and patient outcomes. Overall, 12 visits in 29 days were the mean outcomes for maximum improvement. For specific conditions like spondylolisthesis, disc herniation (even L4 vs L5 disc herniation), sprain/strain, etc., the days and visits varied. Treating a disc herniation is quite different from treating a sprain. One presents a greater challenge to treat  than the other. 91% of patients found low back and leg pain relief on average in fewer than 90 days (when the condition becomes "chronic") and 12 visits. Whatever your underlying condition of spinal pain, a Richmond chiropractic treatment plan can be arranged for its relief with a recommendation for on-going chiropractic care if that is desired. Johnson Chiropractic is always ready to help!
