Johnson Chiropractic shares these NEW back pain guidelines
and recommendations:
First Option: Spinal
Manipulation
For acute, subacute and chronic low back pain, the American College of
Physicians suggests non-invasive, non-drug treatment of low back
pain at any of these stages, particularly
spinal manipulation
among the recommendations.
(1) Any stage of Richmond back pain or Richmondneck
pain is welcomed at Johnson Chiropractic. Our Richmond
chiropractic care
applies to any stage of pain! Richmond back pain responds well to
the
Cox Technic system of Richmond
chiropractic care at
Johnson Chiropractic. It opens the spinal canal area by up to 28%, decreases
intradiscal pressures and enhances
spinal motion. Ready for non-drug,
non-surgical back pain relief? Contact us!
Spinal Manipulation for Acute
Back Pain
Acute low back pain – pain that lasts up to 6 weeks in
duration – responds to
spinal manipulation according to a new article in the
Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) that studied published
randomized clinical trials. This review reports
that spinal manipulation provides modest improvement in
pain and function with no serious adverse effects.
(2)
JAMA also published an editorial by the well-known
medical doctor and author, Richard Deyo, MD, about spinal manipulation for back
pain incorporating Paige’s study. The editorial explains
that spinal manipulation treatment for acute
low back pain is appropriate.
Its use is in line with the American College of Physicians review and
subsequent guideline. Spinal manipulation allows modest
improvement in pain and function in the short-term compared
with sham manipulation, usual care and other treatments. And of note, Deyo emphasizes that, of the trials reviewed by Paige et al and
the American College of Physicians, none suggested that spinal manipulation care
was less effective than conventional medical care (drugs, rest, etc.). SMT
proved equal to or exceeded conventional care.
(3)
Spinal Manipulation for Older Adults
An update to the evidence-based recommendations on the best
