Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
As a parent, you want care for your child that is gentle, thoughtful, and centered on their needs. Two new studies published in September 2026 provide a more detailed look at why families take kids to the chiropractor and how parents feel about the experience.
WHY PARENTS CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC
A research team in Australia and Canada reviewed visits by 605 young patients, ages 17 and under, cared for by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for coming in in every age group, suggesting that many parents see chiropractic as one piece of keeping their kids healthy and active. Back problems were the most common condition chiropractors diagnosed, and teenagers made up nearly half of all visits. That's no surprise, since growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long stretches of screen time all challenge young spines.
PARENTS FEEL HEARD AND RESPECTED
A second study followed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three areas of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the warmth and respect shown by the chiropractor and office staff. Overall, parents reported favorable experiences in all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. Put simply, families felt heard, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, and that matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
CARE THAT FITS YOUR CHILD
Taken together, these studies highlight chiropractic as a trusted, family-centered choice. No two children are alike, and their care shouldn't be either. At Johnson Chiropractic, your chiropractor begins with a thorough history and examination, walks you through results in simple terms, and tailors techniques to your child's age, size, and comfort level. Your questions are always welcome, and if another provider would be a better fit for your child, we'll be happy to help you find the right one.
